morning ~ coffee!!! it’s grey skies and bright sun, i lie in a patch of sun on the living room floor with the cat while the kettle boils. i have school soon. i make a pot of tea with one turmeric tea bag and one lemon ginger and leave it on my desk to sip thru class.
i struggle soo much to sit still and pay attention so do some drawings of cakes like ones i’ve been seeing lately online with eucalyptus leaves honesty seeds etc poking out; floral arrangement-cum-cake. i wriggle a lot in my chair.
after class i’m ravenous and eat a bowl of leftover rice and curry (cold). i need to stretch my legs so go for a park walk with seamus. we exchange snacks~ they give me some crispy seaweed in exchange for a peanut butter cup. i try wrapping a piece of peanutty chocolate in seaweed sheet, it is only ok. subsequent seaweed slices are duller in taste, overpowered by lingering cloying reece’s sweetness.
muicín has his vaccinations in the vets and afterwards i give him some Lick-e-Lix which are essentially a meat frube.
i make a very late lunch of chickpea pancakes with paneer and lime pickle. these pancakes are so good!!!!! chickpea flour is so magic!! i get so excited by having variations on bread that are gluten free and these are so simple i’ve been making them a lot lately.
i ladle scoops of batter into my cast iron, watch the batter firm and wait for the right amount of bubbles til i flip. i eat the first two pancakes hungrily, shoving them in my mouth and using them to scoop up the very last of last night’s curry. something about chickpea flour cooked in this way reminds of the soft inside bits of sausage roll pastry that have absorbed all the tasty spice and oils~
i have the the rest of the pancakes with paneer~ fried and with lime pickle mixed thru. i graze on this the rest of the day.
rfj sends me a tweet that says when a book is like “Nedgar prepared for himself a simple meal of bread and cheese” i’m always like. fuuck that bread and cheese sounds good.
yes!! i love this kind of thing. in portrait of a lady on fire when they sit at the table and pour many consecutive small glasses of beer from a big bottle. and eat a hunk of cheese and bread with a glass of red wine. i crave this ~ eating simply with fervour ~ deep sensory satisfaction
